Hike to the Top of Catalina
Watching it now I realize that she wasn't shaky at all. Must have been my brains shaking.

Spring
Not exactly Spring, but we don't get Spring in SF. Still - plenty warm enough for a walk around Yerba Buena Gardens, as long as one has a jacket. Lovely day.

California Grandmas Pop Some Tags
My friend Sarah and I were vending at City Fest in Ventura, and it was extremely cold and damp all day. When the Thrift Shop song came on, we just started dancing, mostly to stay warm, but we thrift shop together and we like the song. You're never too old to get your groove on while wearing your thrift shop clothes. My husband videoed us toward the end, but it wasn't staged, just spontaneous.

Down On The Corner
Just hanging on the corner of Jessie and New Montgomery, watching the lunch crowd.

Willy, Zabel, Ophelia, and Me
Last night's bedtime stories and entertainment came courtesy of Oh and Zah, via Skype. Stories about sperm and hats, bears and swimmers. Very cool kids.

Kitchenware Porn
Cookin' is quite possibly the greatest store on earth. Think "Julia Childs' estate sale meets SF thrift shop." It's awesome. Whenever I'm there, I promise myself I'll go back when I have a lot more money to spend.

Rice
When most of the water has cooked off, and dimples start to form on the surface of the rice: then, and only then, do you give it a slight stir, moving it into the middle, lower the heat, and cover for 17 minutes.

Knitting lesson
This young woman was knitting on the train - obviously an early stab at it. An old woman - a complete stranger - sat down next to her, and proceeded to give her a long knitting lesson. At one point after I stopped filming, the old woman took the girl's hands in her own and showed her how to use her pinkies to train the yarn, making it an easier flow. Lovely.

Street Klezmer
So, this goes on for almost 2 minutes, but it's my blog, and I can do that if I want to. I'm not a stickler for the 60 second rule, anyhow. It was difficult enough stopping when I did - this band was so good. Street Klezmer. Aother great thing about life in an American city.

Spring is Here
She sang a beautiful song then took a dump. Happy Spring! Maybe she was asking that other bird for toilet paper.

Rise and Shine Double Header
First off, my waking up and facing the day, complete with groggy, congested morning voice. And, before anyone asks: it's a king-sized bed so, no, I never roll over on top of my laptop and Kindle.
Second, my morning glucose test. I do this a few times a day to keep on track and know when I need to eat. It's a little weird that food has basically become medicine, but there you go. And, no, it doesn't hurt - at this point, I don't even feel it, anymore.

N Judah Express Bus
It's a rare thing: an empty bus and a friendly driver, at the same time. I like the way this particular bus takes me right down to the Pacific.

Meal
Oilive oil, anchovies, onion, garlic, sliced mushroom, Kalamata olives, the tiniest bit of high-fibre pasta, and blanched broccoli.

Gorgeous, sunny, late afternoon in the Sunset District. Even this awful corner looks warm and inviting on a day like today.

The Things One Stumbles on in an American City
I heard the music as soon as I left my job this afternoon, and followed the sound to an alley that leads to one of SF's most elegant hotels. An Indian wedding procession. Truly joyous. I took lots of footage, but I like this bit the best.
